FLASH -- Proposed Law Changes, State of Texas, as of March 2009-

The following two NEV related bils were processed in 2009 in the Texas Legislature:

S.B 129- FLASH---on May 27, the Texas legislature passed this law, SB 129 now allows all NEVs to drive at a speed of 35 mph operating legally on streets having up to a 45 mph speed limit ! this includes virtually all highway frontage roads. This law became effective on September 1, 2009. Reasons it passed without a single opposing vote in either the Senate or House are:
* every mile driven in an electric car instead of a guzzler means less pollution, less carbon gas in the air
* every mile driven in an electric car instead of a guzzler brings us a bit closer to
energy independence –

What legislator would vote against less pollution/carbon gas and moving towards energy independence?

S.B. 120- SB120, if passed, would have eliminate the state sales tax on all plug-in cars. If the congress had actually debated it, it surely would have passed-- but the timing of both houses worked against actually debating anything meaningful, and this bill was shelved.
